Dive into the ruthless world of Room 25 Ultimate, the definitive version of the famous survival game inspired by prison universes and science fiction films. In this major title from our collection of strategy games, you must explore a shifting and deadly complex to find the exit. Between forced cooperation and suspected betrayal, every decision could be your last.

How to play Room 25 Ultimate?
Game Setup
The board consists of 25 face-down room tiles, forming a 5x5 square. Players choose a character and place their pawn in the central room (Room 25). Depending on the chosen mode (Cooperation, Suspicion, Team, or Solo), players receive secret role cards, sometimes designating "Guardians" infiltrated whose goal is to prevent prisoners from escaping.
Gameplay outline
Each round unfolds in two phases:
- Programming: You secretly plan two actions from four (Look at an adjacent room, Move, Push another player, or Slide a row of rooms).
- Action: Players reveal and execute their actions one after another.
Interaction is constant, reminiscent of the tension in Not Alone, where every move your partners make must be carefully analyzed.
Win/Loss Condition
To win, the prisoners must find "Room 25" and escape before the turn count ends. If the guards manage to eliminate two prisoners or if time runs out, the prisoners lose the game. This is a true tactical challenge that often features among our best expert board games.
Our Tips for Winning
-
Look before you leap
Haste is your worst enemy. Always use the "Look" action before entering a new room. Some rooms are instantly fatal or can trap you. This caution is essential, just as in our other board games and tabletop gameswhere exploration is key.
-
Master "Coulissage"
Sliding a row is not only useful for moving around, but also a great way to disorient guards or move a suspicious player away from a strategic room. Board control is the prisoners' most powerful weapon for isolating traitors.
-
Don't trust anyone (too quickly)
In Suspicion mode, doubt is constant. A player who pushes you isn't necessarily an enemy; they might be trying to get you out of a dangerous area. Analyze behaviors over several turns before making an accusation, a psychological mechanic also found in the excellent Among Us.
Room 25 Ultimate FAQ
Which extensions are included in this Ultimate edition?
This "Ultimate" edition includes the base game and the content from the first expansion, offering more characters (8 in total), new game modes, and even more formidable rooms for a complete experience right out of the box.
Can Room 25 be played with two players?
Yes, the game offers specific modes for 2 players, although the "Suspicion" aspect and betrayal mechanics are best experienced with 4 or more players. If you're looking for a pure duel game, you might also like Jaipur.
What is the difference from the classic version?
In addition to the enriched content, the design has been reviewed and the rules have been refined for better fluidity. This is the ideal version to discover the license or to replace an old, well-played copy.
Is the game difficult to learn?
The basic actions are very simple, but it's knowledge of the different rooms that takes a bit of practice. Fortunately, a cheat sheet is provided for each player, making learning quick even for beginners.
