Schotten Totten is a must-have for two-player games. Each player leads a Scottish clan seeking to control the border. To do this, you will place numbered cards on your side of the border, in front of the boundary stones you are trying to claim. The goal is to create card combinations similar to poker but simplified (three of a kind, straight, etc.) that are better than your opponent's to win the game!

How to play Schotten Totten?
Game Setup
- Place the nine cairns between the two players to create the border to be conquered.
- Each player receives a hand of Clan cards representing different colors and numerical values. An advanced variant also allows Tactical cards to be added to enrich games with more twists.
Gameplay outline
- In turn, each player places a card in front of one of the available terminals.
- The goal is to build the best possible three-card combination in front of each terminal. The combinations are reminiscent of poker, with straights, flushes, or three-of-a-kind, some of which are more powerful than others.
- The challenge comes from the fact that once a card is played, it cannot be moved. You must constantly choose between strengthening an already committed position or opening a new front.
- As the game progresses, visible information allows players to deduce their opponents' possibilities and to lock down certain terminals even before they are completely filled.
Win/Loss Condition
- To win, you must be the first player to control five scattered terminals or three adjacent terminals on the border.
- Control of a terminal is achieved when your combination becomes mathematically impossible to beat or when it is superior to your opponent's.
Our Tips for Winning
-
Don't try to win every milestone
Focus your efforts on a few specific goals rather than spreading yourself too thin.
-
Quickly close strong positions
Some charging stations can be secured before their end thanks to visible information.
-
Hide your true priorities
Feigning to abandon an area sometimes makes your opponent waste their best cards.
