Soar to new heights in the world of Scythe with The Wind Gambit, an expansion that introduces new ways to dominate the continent without disrupting the foundations of the original game. With the arrival of airships and an innovative end-game resolution system, each confrontation becomes more unpredictable and strategic. This modular expansion enriches the gameplay experience with greater mobility, tension, and tactical renewal. Compatible with the base game and other expansions, The Wind Gambit opens new perspectives for players who wish to rediscover Scythe from a new angle.

How to play the Scythe: Invaders from Afar expansion?
Game Setup
- Install the Scythe base game, then add the desired modules from those offered in the expansion. The Rise of Fenris works around two independent systems that can be used together or separately: airships and resolutions.
- Each player receives their airship and the associated tiles that define its capabilities for the game. A Resolution tile is also chosen to modify certain end-game conditions.
Gameplay outline
- The general gameplay remains faithful to Scythe with its system of economic development, production, and territory control.
- The main addition comes from airships. These special units move freely above the terrain and have variable powers depending on the tiles selected at the start of the game. Some configurations, for example, allow for resource transportation, while others favor movement or create new tactical opportunities.
- The second module is based on resolutions. Only one is used per game and modifies how the end of the game is triggered or resolved. This simple variation often transforms the pace of development and prompts players to re-evaluate their strategic priorities.
Win/Loss Condition
Scythe's victory conditions largely remain the same, but the resolutions modify certain end-game parameters. Players must therefore adapt their economic development, expansion, and star management to the new rules introduced by the chosen module.
Our Tips for Winning
-
Use aircraft to create pressure
Airships aren't just for moving faster. Their mere presence can influence adverse decisions and secure certain areas of the board.
-
Adapt your strategy to active resolution
The chosen resolution changes the way the game is played. Take a few minutes at the beginning to understand its implications before starting your economic engine.
-
Don't neglect your classic development
The expansion offers new possibilities but never replaces the fundamentals of Scythe. Production, popularity, and action management remain essential.
FAQ – All about Scythe: Skies of Glory
Can Scythe: Invaders from Afar be played without Scythe?
No, this is an expansion that absolutely requires the base game Scythe.
What do aircraft really change?

Are both modules mandatory?
No, the aircraft and resolutions are completely independent and can be used separately or together depending on the group's preferences.
Does this expansion increase the game's complexity?
Above all, it adds more strategic variety without significantly burdening the basic game rules.
