How to play The Gang?

Game Setup

  • Each player is dealt two cards face down, as in Texas Hold’em poker.
  • Numbered tokens are placed in the center to allow players to assess the strength of their hand.
  • “Vault” and “Alarm” cards are prepared to track the progress of the game.
  • Players prepare to cooperate... without being able to freely communicate about their cards.

Gameplay outline

  • Each round represents a heist, played in several stages inspired by poker.
  • At the beginning, each player secretly chooses a chip indicating the estimated strength of their hand relative to others.
  • Community cards are then progressively revealed (flop, turn, river), just like in poker.
  • Between each revelation, players can adjust their estimate with the chips.
  • The goal is to correctly rank all players' hands, from weakest to strongest, without direct communication.
  • At the end of the round, players check if their evaluations are correct.

Win/Loss Condition

  • If all players have correctly assessed their hand, you successfully pull off the heist and open a safe.
  • If there's a mistake, an alarm is triggered.
  • You win the game if you open three safes before triggering three alarms.
  • Victory is therefore collective: either the whole team succeeds, or they all fail together.
