How to play Timeline?

Game Setup

  • Each player receives several cards placed in front of them, illustration side visible but date hidden. A first card is revealed in the center of the table with its date visible to start the timeline.
  • The goal is simple: successfully place all your cards correctly before the others.

Gameplay outline

  • In turn, a player chooses one of their cards and then tries to place it in the correct spot on the timeline already built.
  • Once the position is announced, the card is flipped over to reveal its true date. If it is correctly placed, it remains in the timeline. Otherwise, it is removed from the game and the player must draw a new card.
  • As the game progresses, the timeline becomes longer and longer and the intervals become narrower, making decisions increasingly difficult.
  • The game rewards both knowledge and the ability to estimate periods and make deductions.

Win/Loss Condition

  • The first player to get rid of all their cards immediately wins the game.
  • Players must therefore alternate between taking risks and making careful moves to progress without accumulating new cards.
