How to play the Wingspan Americas expansion?
Game Setup
Install Wingspan Americas by adding the new Bird cards to the base game deck. Shuffle the new Bonus cards and replace or add round goals as you prefer. Player mats, resources, and all main base game components are used as normal.
Gameplay outline
- The general course of the game remains identical to Wingspan. Players develop their three habitats by attracting birds to improve their food gathering, egg laying, and card drawing actions.
- The new species introduce original powers, with more effects triggered at the end of a round, abilities interacting with other players, and mechanics offering new ways to manage resources. The new round objectives also allow for a change in strategic priorities and vary the approach from one game to another.
- The expansion also includes cards that offer effects related to food reserves, eggs, or birds present in opponents' hands, thus strengthening interactions around the table.
Win/Loss Condition
As in the base game, the game ends after four rounds. Players add up points from birds in their habitats, bonus cards, end-of-round goals, eggs, cached food, and cards tucked under their birds. The player with the most points wins.
