Wyrmspan is the direct sequel to the acclaimed Wingspan.
Each player takes on the role of an amateur dragonologist seeking to attract dragons to their underground sanctuary. The game involves excavating one's own cavern to prepare suitable habitats, then attracting the most beautiful dragon specimens with varied abilities.
Players then send their adventurer to explore these caverns to activate effects, collect resources, and accumulate victory points. Inspired by Wingspan, Wyrmspan offers unique mechanics and an immersive dragon-themed experience.
How to play Wyrmspan?
Game Setup
- Each player receives their Sanctuary board, composed of three distinct cave zones, as well as a set of starting resources. Unlike a simple card placement, your territory begins with only a few spaces already excavated: you will gradually have to open up new locations to accommodate more dragons.
- Dragon cards, Cave cards, and round objectives are prepared to build a different game each session.
Gameplay outline
- À chaque tour, vous utilisez une pièce d’action pour effectuer l’une des trois grandes actions disponibles : excaver une grotte, attirer un dragon ou explorer votre sanctuaire.
- Excaver permet d’ouvrir de nouveaux emplacements et de déclencher certains effets immédiats. Une fois les espaces disponibles, vous pouvez y installer des dragons possédant des pouvoirs variés : effets à la pose, activations pendant l’exploration, capacités de fin de partie ou bonus spécifiques.
- L’exploration constitue le cœur du moteur de jeu. En envoyant votre aventurier dans une grotte, vous activez progressivement les capacités des dragons présents jusqu’à rencontrer un arrêt. Plus votre sanctuaire est développé, plus vos explorations deviennent puissantes.
- En parallèle, les joueurs progressent sur la piste de Guilde des Dragons et tentent d’atteindre les objectifs communs afin d’augmenter leur score final.
Win/Loss Condition
- After four rounds, players add up their points from established dragons, completed objectives, Guild bonuses, end-game abilities, and conserved resources and elements.
- The player with the highest total score wins the game and becomes the most prestigious dragon sanctuary.
