The Siege expansion is the second official enrichment for Champ d'Honneur, the 2020 Tric Trac d'Or bag-building wargame. It introduces two major new tactical layers: 4 unprecedented war engine units — Trebuchet, War Chariot, Siege Tower, and Sapper — and an entirely new type of piece: Fortifications. Build your ramparts, block enemy advances, and deploy your siege engines to break down enemy defenses. A focused and effective expansion that transforms positioning and forces both sides to completely rethink their territory control strategy. required to play!

How to play with the Siege expansion?

Game Setup

  • Mix the 4 new Unit cards(Trebuchet, War Cart, Siege Tower, Sapper) with the base game cards during the draft phase.
  • Integrate the 19 corresponding Unit tokensinto the common reserve.
  • Deal each player their 6 Fortification Plan cards(3 to 3 or according to the chosen scenario).
  • Place the 7 Fortification piecesnext to the board, accessible to all.
  • The rest of the setup follows the usual Champ d'Honneur rules exactly.

Gameplay outline

Two new types of actions are integrated into the usual turn:

  • Build a Fortification: by playing one of your Fortification Plan cards, place a Fortification piece on a space you control. Fortifications block enemy movement andabsorb one attackbefore being destroyed. They function as a passive territorial shield, forcing the opponent to spend an additional action to neutralize them.
  • Use a war machine: new units have specific siege capabilities. TheTrebuchetattacks at range over an extended distance. TheSiege Towerallows direct deployment behind enemy lines. TheWar Wagondevastates light units but remains vulnerable to reinforced units. TheSapperdestroys enemy Fortifications in a single action.

Win/Loss Condition

Identical to the base game: the first player to place all their control markerson the key points of the board wins. Fortifications slow down the opponent's progress without changing the final objective — they alter the routes, not the destination.

  • Draft the Sapper if your opponent drafts Siege Engines

The Sapper has only one main use — destroying Fortifications in one action. But it is the perfect countermeasure against an opponent who relies on a defensive strategy. Draft it as a direct response, not by default.

  • Only use Fortifications on strategic tiles

Playing a Fortification on an uncontested square is a waste of a Plan card. Save them to block a narrow corridoror protect a key control point you just captured. A well-placed Fortification can cost the opponent two turns to neutralize.

  • The Siege Tower is formidable but predictable

Its ability to deploy behind enemy lines is devastating, but an experienced opponent will keep a unit in reserveto counter it immediately. Combine its deployment with a Fortify action to make it more resistant to counterattack.

FAQ – All you need to know about the Field of Honor Seat extension

Do you absolutely have to have played Noblesse before Siege?

No. The two expansions are completely independentand can be played separately or combined. If you only have one of the two, you already benefit from the full value of the chosen expansion.

Is the small amount of material in the box disappointing?

The box is small and the contents are not very voluminous — 19 tokens, 4 Unit cards, 7 Fortification pieces, 6 Plan cards. Some players are surprised when they open it. But the quality of the added mechanicsis unanimously praised: the impact on the game is disproportionate to the amount of material.

Do Fortifications make the game too defensive?

No, because Plot cards are limited(6 per player) and the Sapper is easily draftable to neutralize them. Fortifications slow down, they don't immobilize. In practice, they shift the tactical center of gravity towards lane control — which enriches games without blocking them.

Is the expansion compatible with Felonious, the third expansion?

Yes, all three expansions are fully compatible with each other and designed to stack seamlessly. Playing with all three simultaneously offers the most complete Field of Honor experience possible, reserved for groups who have mastered the base game.
