Breathe new life into the original Galerapagos game with this expansion that enriches the universe of the deserted island: mysterious tribes, characters with unique powers, and new items will shake up your strategy. The semi-cooperative atmosphere remains intact, but the tension rises another notch thanks to new challenges and interactions. Whether you are a game veteran or a newcomer, this expansion offers a dynamic and fun breath of fresh air for your game nights.

How to play the expansion?
Game Setup
Before you begin, add the "Characters," "Items," and "Events" cards to your 기본 Galerapagos game. Each player chooses or is assigned a character with a special ability. Mix the item cards with the usual shipwreck cards. Also prepare the "Events" pile, which will be activated at the beginning of rounds. The rest of the preparation (resources, raft, weather) is done as in the base game.
Gameplay outline
The game still follows the classic phases: collecting water, food, wood, searching the wreck, and a possible vote in case of scarcity. With the expansion, at each round, an "Event" card is revealed and applied before players act. These events can modify resources, introduce special conditions, or involve the tribe. Characters then play with their abilities: some can act differently, gain bonuses, or suffer penalties. Added items enrich the wreck with various effects. Keep the resources and objectives of the base game.
Win/Loss Condition
As in the base game, you need to gather enough wood to build the raft and survive until the hurricane arrives. With the expansion, the tribe and events can slightly change the survival conditions: an interaction or a challenge from the tribe can delay the raft or redistribute places. Collective victory is still possible, but each character can also have a small individual stake depending on their ability. A shortage can always trigger a vote and eliminate a player. The game ends when the raft can leave or when the hurricane strikes — with the added elements, expect more unexpected events.
Our Tips for Winning
-
"Maximize your character's impact from the start"
Choose or adapt your strategy based on your special ability: a character who performs better at collecting water should prioritize that action early on. Using your power early often gives you a lasting advantage.
-
"Anticipate event cards to guide the group"
Events can drastically change the dynamic: get informed as soon as possible about the revealed map (by the tribe or the rules), and orient your collective actions to minimize negative impact. Taking the initiative gives you the role of leader.
-
"Intelligently enrich the wreckage with the new items"
The item cards added offer powerful or unexpected effects. Don't just consider them as bonuses: choose those that strengthen your character or compensate for a collective weakness (lack of water or wood).
All about the Galerapagos expansion: Tribe and Characters
Does this expansion work alone or does it require the base game?
This expansion requires the base game Galerapagos to be played: it adds modules (items, characters, events) but does not replace the main rules.
Can I use only one of the proposed modules (objects / characters / events)?
Yes, the extension is designed to be modular: you can choose to integrate only item cards, or character cards, or event cards, then combine several according to your preferences.
Does each player's role become totally different with this expansion?
Characters introduce varied abilities that guide gameplay, but the general mechanics remain the same: collecting, surviving, and raft building. The role changes, but the basic game logic does not.
Does the expansion increase the game's length or complexity?
It adds a little complexity through events and powers, but the duration remains similar. However, decision-making can become more intense and strategic.
